Axial expansion joints are designed to absorb thermal expansion in an axial plane. This means the bellows can shorten or lengthen along the longitudinal axis.

They can be fitted with flanges or weld ends to enable them to be installed into the pipework. They are suitable for transporting any liquids and gases in straight pipelines. Axial expansion joints are often used in heating systems.
